I had two winning emails today. That's great, I hear you say. Well, it would be if they were really wins but in reality, I don't consider them to be. I know this might sound a bit strange but both "wins" are prime examples of clever marketing. Both "wins" were in fact, personal vouchers for money off specific products. Although the potential saving off the list price might appear significant, as I currently have no intention of buying the items in question, the "win" is of no value whatsoever. Had I been tempted to use the vouchers, the company would have gained two reasonably significant sales. The moral of the story - don't be blinded by the hype. Always evaluate a "win" for its true value!
